Get ready for
the seventh edition of Ireland's
leading electronic music fest,
Celtronic. For five days and
nights, the best DJs and live
acts from across the dance music
spectrum will perform at Derry's
finest music venues in the most
diverse Celtronic programme
yet.
Celtronic 2007
begins with a hip-hop and reggae
soundclash at Sandino's on Wednesday
27th June headlined by the legendary
Jerry Dammers of The Specials.
The event will also feature
the Irish debut of New York
off beat funk folk hero, JOE
DRISCOLL and the live performances
from local acts MOVE, WILE MAN
and the SIROCCO ALLSTARS.
Massive is
the only way to describe Friday's
party at The Nerve Centre with
Mixmag DJ of the Year, Erol
ALKAN, whose epic sets attract
bookings from New York, Barcelona
and Rio de Janeiro over a year
in advance. Erol will be ably
supported by the RIOTOUS ROCKERS'
highly explosive cocktail of
pop projectiles, electro bombshells,
inflammable disco and subersive
rock'n'roll plus a live show
from Derry heroes THE JAPANESE
POPSTARS.
Saturday sees
The Gasyard, arguably 'the'
best venue in town, return for
one night only where JIMPSTER
from Freerange Records, recently
described by Ben Watt as a 'future
soul kingpin and bittersweet
house don', will play a three
hour set.
TOM MIDDLETON
and REVERSO 68 will bring Celtronic
2007 to a close. There is no
other DJ on the planet who can
create an atmosphere like Tom
Middleton. Mixing up every musical
format imaginable - the man
has to be heard to be believed.
Reverso 68's sound is a deep
mix of Balearic disco and spaced
out, melodic electronics made
with the dancefloor in mind
but definitely a listening pleasure
for all occasions.
DEEP FRIED
FUNK, GLOBAL VIRUS, KREEP, MICRO
ERROR, BOUNCE and ZUTEKH, who
fly the flag for dance music
in Derry throughout the year,
will showcase their respective
clubnights throughout Celtronic.
All this, the Movida Corona
DJ contest and some cracking
free events at Masons and Bound
4 Boston makes Celtronic 2007
the ideal way to start the summer.
See you on the dancefloor.
